Beyond the Bell

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at Beyond the Bell?
After a light snack and homework period, students will participate Math, Reading, Physical Education and in a wide variety of experiences designed to expose them to the many talents, hobbies, and skills present in our community. Art and technology skills will also be explored during the enrichment period. Highly qualified teachers will run the sessions.

Are there any fees for participating?
Due to a successful grant application, students may attend the Beyond the Bell program free of charge.

Who is invited?
All district students in grades PK-8 are invited to attend.

When does the Beyond the Bell meet?
After-school programming is offered four days each week when school is in session: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The program begins immediately after school and ends at 5:20. The bus will leave the school at approximately 5:25.The start date of the program is September 12th, 2011. The center will not be open on days school is not in session such as vacation or inclement weather days.

Is transportation available?
District provided transportation will be offered to ALL students.  Routes will be dependent on participation.

How do I register my child?
The process is intentionally as brief as possible. Simply complete the registration form and submit it to the North Crawford Elementary School office. For specific questions regarding the program, contact Mr. Munson at 624-5201. Registration forms should be submitted by September 9th, 2011.

What if my student can’t attend everyday of the week?
Regular attendance is recommended for best learning but we understand flexible scheduling.  Students may come only on certain days (ie. Mon., Tues., Thurs.). When registering, note days students will attend. Those days that are selected, they will be expected to attend.

What happened to the Homework Help the school offered in the past?
The “Homework Help” section of the After-School program is the same as it always was, allowing assistance with any subject by teaching staff in the library. We are excited to offer additional enrichment/remediation activities to extend the learning day and the transportation home after full program participation.
