Hello, and welcome to fourth grade. My name is Lynn Harden and I have been teaching at North Crawford since 1989. At this school I have taught preschool, kindergarten, sixth grade, chapter math and junior high study skills. As the saying goes, "variety is the spice of life", and teaching a variety of grade levels has broadened my understanding of children. This is my twelfth year teaching fourth grade and I am enjoying every minute of it. For me, one of the best parts of teaching is the fact that I am always learning from the students. They all come with their own unique knowledge and I find they educate me in many ways.
I grew up in a family of ten in Hilbert, WI, which is a small town near the Fox Cities. I graduated from Hilbert High and went on to receive a bachelor's degree from UW-Stevens Point and a masters degree from UW-LaCrosse. Fresh out of college I taught second grade for three years in the Merrill Public School District. I left full time teaching to raise our three children, but during this ten year stretch I worked a variety of jobs. These jobs included teaching adults who were working towards a high school diploma, working as the director and teacher at a private preschool and substitute teaching.
My husband is a native of Augusta, WI, and is the forester for Crawford County. I am proud to say that all three of our children are North Crawford graduates. Our oldest child, Heather, is married and in her third year of residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Madison. Our oldest son, Garrett, is married and works for the Federal Deposit Insurance Cooperation (FDIC) in Eau Claire. Our youngest, Patrick, is in his fourth year at UW-Eau Claire.
