I have been teaching high school social studies classes at North Crawford since 2001. I currently teach American History, World Geography-History, and American Government. All three of these classes are graduation requirements at North Crawford. I get the privilege of watching my students grow in learning and develop new skills between their 9th grade and 11th grade years.
I grew up on a diversified family farm in southeastern Minnesota. I graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota with a B.A. in History in 1993. Between 1993 and 2000, I worked for the National Park Service as a law enforcement ranger at several national park sites. I attended Central Washington University from 1997 to 2000, where I conducted field research in the highlands of Honduras and earned an M.S. in Natural Resource Management. In 2000 I returned to the Midwest and earned my teaching certification at St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota.
In my spare time, I raise beef cattle and hogs on our farm near Liberty Pole, with the help of my wife, Sara Martinez and our two sons Samuel and Henry. We are proud to call the Driftless Area our home.
