WELCOME TO NORTH CRAWFORD JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL!!
North Crawford Junior High serves approximately 80 students in 7th and 8th grade. Our highly qualified junior high teachers strive to provide students with a rigorous and relevant education program to prepare them for high school, and life beyond school.
The junior high curriculum provides the foundation students need for a successful educational experience while at North Crawford. Students receive challenging, but quality instruction in the core areas of English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Junior high students also rotate quarterly through the exploratory classes of art, technical education, keyboarding, and Spanish. Students alternate daily between physical education and language lab. 7th and 8th grade students can also choose an elective in choir and/or band. North Crawford Junior High students have opportunities to excel outside of the classroom. Students can participate in co-curricular activities, including football, cross country, volleyball, boys basketball, girls basketball, wrestling, and track. Students can also display their theatrical and musical talent by joining a highly renowned performance by the North Crawford Playhouse.
North Crawford Junior High students also have varied access to technology. We have several computer labs accessible to our students. We are proud to have SMARTBoards accessible in all junior high classrooms. A Smart Board is an interactive white board that teachers and students utilize in the classroom.
We are proud of the academic and emotional support that we provide our students on a daily basis. Our guidance counselor works with all students in whole groups, small groups, and meets with students on an individual basis. We also have a school psychologist who works one-on-one with several of our students. Our highly qualified special education staff works with students with learning, emotional/behavioral, and cognitive disabilities. We employ specialists in the areas of speech/language, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and hearing impairment. Students who are at-risk academically are programmed in an at-risk study hall, where they receive intensive, small group instruction on homework completion, organization, study skills, and other areas of academic weakness. We are also fortunate to be able to offer 2nd through 8th grade students an after-school program. The “Homework Help Night” meets every Monday and Thursday after school from 3:30 – 5:00 to assist students with homework completion.
