Additionally, the board approved students returning after holiday break on Monday, January 4th. We will follow the hybrid schedule that we have been working under all year. It's more important than it has ever been for all of us to work together to follow COVID protocols, including wearing face coverings, physical distancing, avoiding large gatherings, staying home when possible, and consistently washing and sanitizing your hands. It is going to take a team effort from all of us to keep our kids in school learning from our amazing staff. #TrojanPride

Greetings from the School Nurse,
Following the Thanksgiving holiday, we are anticipating an increase in cases in our community. Children, especially elementary age, are more likely to test positive but have no symptoms. This creates a difficult scenario for our school community as people who have the virus, but have no symptoms, are still able to spread the virus. I strongly encourage taking students age 5 years and up to a drive through testing event in the next week or so. There are two testing events in our area. 12/3/2020 at the Richland County Fairgrounds 9a-4p. Here is a link to that event: https://covid.co.richland.wi.us/free-community-testing. On 12/10/2020 at the Old County Highway Shop 602 North Main St Viroqua from 10a-6p, you can call the Vernon County Public Health Dept for more info at 608-637-5251. If neither of these events work for you, call your public health department for other options. The more we know and can isolate cases, the more likely we are able to keep our school open. Stay safe, stay home as much as possible, wear a mask if you have to go out!

Greetings from the School Nurse,
While we are virtual for the next two weeks, I wanted to send a notice that I am still tracking our COVID-19 cases in our school and need your help in keeping up to date on the situation in our school community. If you've been notified that your student was identified as a close contact or your student has developed symptoms/tested positive, I would appreciate a phone call or email. Your continued help and cooperation during this wave of cases will assist us in providing the most in-person days of instruction as possible.

Greetings from the School Nurse,
As we enter a break time that is often associated with increased gatherings; staff, students, and the community at large could be entering "super spreading" events. The message is short and simple. Limit your exposure to people. Keep your bubble the same as it was a week or a month ago. Protect our most vulnerable. Our hospitals are strained and to the breaking point! Stay home as much as possible and if you need to leave the house, mask up.
Well Wishes and have a safe Thanksgiving!

Many of you may have seen the recommendations released by Crawford County over the weekend in regards to school districts. After much discussion and consideration, Superintendent Brandon Munson has recommended that North Crawford continue moving forward with our current hybrid instructional model. We will continue to evaluate the numbers of COVID cases in the county and within the district, and are prepared to make a change to virtual instruction if needed. Let's all do our part to help slow the spread of this virus, including staying home, physical distancing, and wearing our masks. #TrojanPride

Because of COVID restrictions and protocols, we are unable to host a Veteran's Day Program in the district this year. However, we still want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our local veterans. To all those who have served our country, and continue serving our country, Happy Veterans Day!

Good evening again from the school nurse. This is an update about our makeup flu vaccine clinic. I will have flu vaccines for students who had signed up for the flu vaccine and missed the clinic, and for those other students who did not have a form completed but later contacted me. We will not be holding a formal clinic day but I will be pulling students out to administer them while they are at school to make sure everyone gets a vaccine. If your student is a virtual student and you have contacted me about getting a vaccine, you will need to set a time up with me. Also, if your student is in 6th grade, is behind on his/her Tdap; and you have Badgercare, are uninsured, or underinsured, fill out the form below and get it to me. I can then get the Tdap vaccine from the county and administer it. If you are struggling to get any vaccine for your student, please contact me.
Tdap form:

Good evening and greetings from the school nurse,
If you were contacted earlier today that your student was excluded from school, please check your email. I sent two documents to the parent/guardian email that was listed as primary in Skyward. If you have further questions, please contact me at 608-624-5201 ext 236 during school, or email me at jwpowell@ncrawford.k12.wi.us if it is after hours.

Earlier this afternoon the district was informed that we have a positive case of COVID-19 within the elementary school. Through our contact tracing protocol, we will be identifying and notifying all families whose children have likely had close contact with the positive individual, as well as all staff members who have had close contact. Please feel free to reach out to the district if you have any questions or concerns in regards to this information. Stay well.

The school district was contacted earlier this morning by Crawford County Health that we have a positive COVID case in the high school. Because of timelines, we are not required to do any additional contact tracing here at school. Any individuals who may have been in close contact with the positive case outside of school will be contacted directly by the health department. These cases continue to reinforce the importance for us to take all measures possible while here at school and in our communities to mitigate the contraction and spread of COVID-19. Let's all keep working together to continue giving our kids opportunities to learn and play here at North Crawford.

We would like to pass on that on Friday, October 23rd, Crawford County will be holding a county wide clean sweep that will included prescription drug collection. To prevent accidental ingestion, misuse or abuse of prescriptions, it is very important to dispose of any unused prescriptions drugs. Please consider disposing of your unused medications during this clean sweep and help keep our children safe! Below is a copy of the flyer. You can also visit the Crawford County website or the Crawford County Land Conservation, Planning & Zoning Department facebook page

Greetings again from the school nurse!
It is that time of year where letters have been sent out to families who have students that are behind on their required immunizations. State law requires that a student receive at least the minimum required immunizations for the grade level that the student is entering or file a waiver with the school by filling out the Student Immunization Record. Failure to do so may result in a student being excluded from school according to state law. Please note that our intentions are not focused on punitive measures but rather helping you to make informed decisions on your student's health and complying with the state requirements. I am fully aware that most students will not get caught up by the 30th day of school. Instead I ask that you contact me to share your intentions on complying with the state requirements. I am very happy to answer any questions you may have about the law and about vaccines in general. The " Immunization Record Form" and the list of required vaccines are located on the school website under Menu -Documents-School Nurse-Immunizations. My office number is 608-624-5201 ext. 236 or you can email me at jwpowell@ncrawford.k12.wi.us

Good Morning and Greetings from the school nurse!
We will be holding another flu clinic in the next two weeks for those who missed our first two. The date we pick will be determined on how many students sign up. For those who already turned a consent form in, I have those and your student will receive a flu shot. Those who did not submit one but would like to, please print one out from this link:https://5il.co/kxse and send it to school. If you are unable to print, please call 608-624-5201 ext 236 and I will send one home with your student. I need to know by tomorrow, Wednesday Oct 14, so I can coordinate with the Crawford County Public Health Department and we can get the correct amount ordered. If you student is not in school the day we pick, I will be keeping extras and can administer the vaccine when they are in school next.

Good Evening MS VB Parents, Due to the County downgrading to Phase 1 last week, and the increase in cases in our immediate area, administration feels that we need to move back to not allowing spectators at our home events. We will play Thursday evening in the large gym and livestream for you. Thanks for understanding, We will keep you posted going forward.

The North Crawford School District has been made aware of two positive COVID cases, one at the middle school and one at the high school. Neither case will result in any additional students or staff being placed on quarantine. Any direct contacts outside of school with either case should have been contacted directly by the county health department. We would like to remind everyone of the importance of contacting the school district immediately if your child or any other family members are experiencing COVID-like symptoms. It's important that we're aware of these situations to help mitigate the risk for everyone and to recommend an appropriate response. Stay safe.

We are excited to share that the USDA has extended free meals for the entire 2020-2021 school year. Meals are available for any child, age 18 and younger. Taking free school meals supports the community and supports the school nutrition program. More meals served = more school funding. More school funding = even more students served. Supporting school meals provides your family with nutritious fruits, veggies, whole grains, and more, lowers your grocery bill, and reduces meal prep stress. Below is the link to sign-up for meals for the week of October 21-27. Meals may be picked up on Tuesday, October 20th, from 5:00-7:00 pm curbside at the elementary entrance.

Happy Wednesday NC families,
I would like to thank all the students for being vigilant in wearing their masks while at school. Along with social distancing and frequent proper hand hygiene, wearing a mask greatly reduces the chances of COVID-19 spreading in our community, especially with some universities sending college students back home, potentially bring the virus to a community that may not have had it. Following the mitigation measures at all times is essential as according to the DHS "it is currently estimated that 40% of COVID-19 cases are asymptomatic and that 50% of all COVID-19 infections are the result of asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic transmission". Be safe, wear a mask, wash your hands, and avoid large gatherings!

6th Grade Parents,
If you have any girls that are interested in volleyball, please have them come to middle school volleyball practice starting this Thursday at 3:45-5:30. Greetings Middle and High School students and families, As we work through all of the new technologies and procedures for the first week, please be patient with us. Our staff are working incredibly hard to exist in an educational world none of us have navigated before. Students who are virtual today haven't seen their teachers face to face yet and many won't have Google Classrooms set up, and may not have assignments from their Monday teachers today. They certainly will have a virtual component for the classes that were held on Tuesday on Friday. We will have a few challenges along the way and it is all part of the navigation of our new platforms and our new schedule. I'm incredibly proud of the work our staff has done and we will work through some of the early hiccups as we go. We will be understanding of students' and families' learning curves these first few weeks also and I want to thank our families for their patience as we are all working hard to mitigate the risk at school during a global pandemic. We are resilient as a community of educators, parents, students and community members. As always we are NORTH CRAWFORD STRONG!

North Crawford Families- reminder that all meals are free for all students. Lunch for students at school on Thursday will be cheesy pasta bake, green beans, garlic breadsticks, fruit, and milk! If you'd like to pre-order meals for virtual learning days, homeschool families, and kids that are not yet school-age, use the link below. The deadline to order for next week is Thursday evening. Pre-ordered meals may be picked up curbside on Tuesday, September 8th, from 5-7pm. You'll find more details within the form.

Good evening North Crawford Middle and High School Students and Families,
I just wanted to share a few things about the first week of school.
6th, 7th, 9th and 10th grade students are the only students from the middle and high school here tomorrow. There will be no virtual classes for 8th, 11th and 12th grades until September 7th. There will be no Wednesday virtual session this week because all students won't have their Chromebooks yet. The first day of school for 8th, 11th and 12th grades is Thursday, September 3rd. Wear your mask tomorrow and go directly to your first hour class once you receive your schedule. High school students will be handed their schedules in the front of the building while all middle school students will head down to the middle school wing to get your schedules upon arrival. All full virtual students and families should attend the zoom meeting with Mr. Sailer and Mrs. Bransky at 7:30 tonight. Here is the link. https://us04web.zoom.us/j/78632901929?pwd=cVcxV3E1U1BKTGh3SnpqL1R3bEY2Zz09#success
Full virtual students that haven't picked up their Chromebook can still do so from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the high school office this evening. I will also put the link to my last newsletter below for reference on quite a few policies and procedures that we have going on in the building this year.

On Thursday, the WIAA met and voted on a plan for athletics to begin this fall in Wisconsin. Here's how that plan will potentially impact North Crawford. Cross Country will begin as originally scheduled with the first practice potentially being held on Monday, August 17th. Football and Volleyball will potentially begin practice on Monday, September 7th. The school board will meet in the near future to decide the next steps for North Crawford in regards to athletics this Fall.

Hello North Crawford families and community. Please click the link below to read a letter from North Crawford Superintendent Brandon Munson and view a graphic about North Crawford's "Return to Learn" plan to reopen school on September 1st. I'm sure many of you will be disappointed or upset with certain aspects of the plan. Please keep in mind that it is nearly an impossible task to develop a plan that is going to appease everyone. We had 9 teachers and 4 administrators working on this plan for the past 2 months, which was just approved by all 7 board members. Many of these staff and board members reside in our communities, and have children and grandchildren in the district. Our priority was to balance the safety of staff and students with having children in the school for face to face learning. Please consider thinking about how we can all work together proactively, productively, and positively to make this difficult experience the best possible for our students. Thank you for your patience and consideration. We look forward to working with you all. Take care. #TrojanPride

Hello North Crawford families. Last evening the North Crawford School Board considered a presentation by the administrative team to reopen the school this fall for staff and students. We anticipate having our Return to Learn plan approved by the end of this week, after which we will communicate to all parents, students, and the community our plans to reopen North Crawford this fall. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through this very difficult process. #TrojanPride

Hello North Crawford. As many of you have likely heard, yesterday the Wisconsin Supreme Court overturned Governor Evers "Safer at Home" orders, effectively eliminating those orders which were set to expire at the end of the month. The existing order of school closures was not included in this ruling. The North Crawford School District will remain closed through June 30th. All of our buildings and grounds remain closed to the public, including the school building itself, our fitness Shed, the playground, and all athletic facilities. All other existing conditions remain in effect, including virtual learning, no athletics, and the postponement or modification of many of our spring and summer activities. If you have any questions regarding this information specifically, please contact Superintendent Brandon Munson at (608) 735-7203. Stay well North Crawford.

Please click the link below to view Superintendent Brandon Munson's weekly video message about some important date changes and events in the school district, as well as a shout-out to our track and field team and seniors. GO TROJANS!!! #TrojanPride

Hello North Crawford students, staff, families, and communities. Once again, we would like to clarify the current status of school. Per Governor Evers' order at the end of last week, all school buildings and grounds remain closed through the end of the year, which is defined as through June 30th. What this means for North Crawford is our building, playground, athletic facilities, and The Shed fitness center are closed through June 30th. Obviously this impacts many of the important events we had planned for this spring and early summer. We will be back in touch in the near future with everyone with the specifics of rescheduling these events. As you all know, these situations are very dynamic and quickly changing. We will keep you all updated as we learn more information. Be safe, stay strong. We're all in this together. #TrojanPride

Each Friday night we'll turn the football field lights on from 8:00-10:00 p.m. Please join us in turning your outside lights on during this time. Our lights are on to honor our front line workers, those in healthcare, grocery, childcare, our first responders, police, EMTs, firefighters, and all other community members who put their health and safety on the line each day to provide the rest of us the important services and safety we need. We also honor all of our high school student athletes who are not able to be on the field of play this spring. We especially honor our dedicated and committed seniors, who may not have the opportunity to take the field again in high school. #StayHomeStaySafe #TrojanPride

Good morning North Crawford families. Just a reminder that we start our new food service deliveries this week. Today's delivery will have enough food for your children for the entire week. Please pay careful attention to the directions for proper storage and preparation of the food. Next week food will be delivered on Tuesday, and then each Monday after that. If you need to change your food delivery status, or have any other questions regarding food service, please email Jennifer Kapinus directly at jkapinus@ncrawford.k12.wi.us.

As our spring weather continues to bring warmer temperatures, it's going to be tempting to want to hang out with friends, hang out at parks, have cookouts with friends and family, and sit around campfires with friends and neighbors. Let's all continue to do our part to social distance and follow the Governor's orders of "Safer at Home". The recommendations are to only be with immediate family at this time. While these are difficult times for us all, hopefully by following these guidelines we can get through these challenges much quicker, keep ourselves safe, and get back some normalcy in our lives. #beatcorona #flattenthecurve

As many of you know, our NC Staff have been working diligently the last couple weeks making sure meals are being prepared and delivered to our families. Today alone we fed nearly 400 students. None of this would be possible without this team of dedicated North Crawford Staff Members: Jen Kapinus, Janet Pittsley, Connie Torgerson, Jessy Pugh, Chanda Chellevold, Sarah Harless, Kim Heister, Erin Konichek, Patty Kvigne, Laurie Oppriecht, Jackie Pettit, Stephanie Roth, Erin Sanders, Tina Volden, JoEllen Young, Mark Bergemann, Kevin Burke, Wayne Goplin, Jim Helgerson, Gary Schmitt, and Stan Turben. This truly has been a team effort by these dedicated individuals.
To show our thanks, we're asking families to make posters to hang in your windows or on your front doors, make signs to post in your yard, write chalk messages on your sidewalks and driveways, to thank these dedicated individuals. Our next deliveries will be on Friday and Monday. #TrojanPride

At this time we are planning to start meal deliveries on Thursday. We are sending lunch and breakfast for the next day. Please put a cooler near your front door for us to leave the food in. There will be perishable food and milk, please bring meals in as soon as possible. If there is no cooler we will leave the meals in a bag near the door. We are trying to limit face to face interaction as much as possible. Please be patient with us as we begin to navigate this huge undertaking. If you were missed on the route or need to make any changes please contact Jen Kapinus at jkapinus@ncrawford.k12.wi.us or 608-735-7213. Please help us by sharing this information with friends and family.

Good morning North Crawford families. Our apologies, but there will be no food service deliveries today. We are still working through some logistics to make sure we can efficiently deliver to all of our families who requested breakfast and lunch. We hope to begin deliveries on Thursday. If you have not yet responded to your child's homeroom teacher, please email that teacher right away so we can get an accurate count of families wishing to have deliveries. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Thank you to all our families who were able to pick up student materials and supplies yesterday. We still have several students who have materials needing to be picked up. The building will be open all day Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for parents or students to stop in and pick up materials. As of 5:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the school building will be locked down and parents or students will not be allowed to enter after that time. We hope you'll be able to stop in during the day Wednesday to pick your child's materials and supplies up. Thank you.

We are busy getting ready to begin food service tomorrow. If you do not currently use our bus service and want meals delivered, email jkapinus@ncrawford.k12.wi.us or call 735-7213 to be sure you are on our list. This really helps us get prepared for tomorrow. Thank you!!

We are excited to announce that we have received a grant from No Hungry Kid to purchase a Grab N’ Go Cart! The cart will be a secondary option for Breakfast, Nutrition Break and Lunch. The cart will be stocked with all the components of a full meal, including fresh fruits, veggies, and milk. Students will now have the choice to purchase a Grab N’ Go meal from the cart or as usual in the cafeteria. Students free, reduced or full pay benefits remain the same no matter where they chose to eat. Students will enter their pin numbers on the computer that is on the cart. Students may only eat in one location, not both for breakfast or lunch. This simply gives students additional healthy options! We are testing it out this week for Nutrition Break for grades 5-12.
