WELCOME TO NORTH CRAWFORD MIDDLE SCHOOL!!
Hello, and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve the fantastic students, staff, and families of the North Crawford School District. I am extremely grateful to serve as the Middle/High School principal in this district and look forward to the relationships we will build and sustain together.
A little bit about myself and how I came into this role: I have known that I wanted to be an educator since I was a child, as I had some amazing role models who influenced me by their integrity and presence throughout my young life and still do to this day. My parents are both retired educators and I’ve had the privilege to not only be mentored by them, but by a plethora of other teachers, principals, and colleagues. I grew up in Marshfield, WI and followed a basketball scholarship to Youngstown State University in Ohio, where I started my undergraduate degree and played for one year. After making the decision to shift some priorities in my life, I continued and eventually finished my undergraduate degree in English Education at UW - La Crosse, while also playing basketball for three more years.
I began my classroom teaching career as a substitute in a variety of districts around the La Crosse area for the second semester of the 2015-16 school year. In the spring of 2016, I got hired as a high school English teacher in the School District of Holmen and taught 9th and 10th-grade English from 2016-2021, while also coaching basketball, track, and strength training. I had some mentors and colleagues who empowered me to start my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership in the summer of 2019, so I began that program through Viterbo University. About halfway through the program, those same people helped empower me to apply and interview for a few positions in the field of school leadership. Through this process, I have learned an immense amount about myself and the influence that people can have on you.
My wife and I live in Viroqua with our 2 year old Yorkie and have enjoyed getting to experience a different town, not too far from where we met and lived for quite some time. Tatum is a nurse in the Pediatrics department at Gundersen in La Crosse, making the commute 4 days a week. We love to explore our community by taking a lot of walks, attending events, and eating out at restaurants. I also am blessed with two brothers, one older, one younger. My older brother, Nick, is an attorney in Milwaukee with a wife and two young daughters. My younger brother, Luke, is a loan officer in La Crosse. Tatum and I are privileged with great family support, we would not be where we are today without them!
