Students in Ms.Knutson's elementary AG class have been busy counting down to hatch day with excitement and anticipation for our incubated eggs to hatch! We've made calendars and candled the eggs to check out the developing baby chicks! 🐤🐣

Most of you by now have noticed the Road Closure signs posted along Highway 131. The road will remain open to local traffic, meaning that families will still be able to travel Hwy 131 to get your children back and forth to school. Likewise, the road construction will not alter our bus routes at this time. Once the repaving project begins in our area, you will notice lane closures, resulting in single lane travel for stretches of Hwy 131. We do not expect that to start in our area until later this summer. As with any construction project, plans can always change. We will be prepared and communicate to our families in the event that this project negatively impacts our families' ability to travel to and from school, or impacts the timing of our bus routes. If you have specific questions on the Hwy 131 resurfacing project, please reach out directly to the Crawford County Highway Department, or by visiting the Wisconsin DOT website at https://projects.511wi.gov/wis131-wis60pleasant/.

It was a great opportunity to show our gratitude to the hardworking individuals who keep our community fed and thriving. 📢 Congratulations to North Crawford’s own Jordan Derrick! 🎉 North Crawford student and Crawford County Independent reporter Jordan Derrick recently earned first place in the Enterprise/Interpretive Reporting category and third place in the Localized National Story category at a statewide journalism competition! Jordan’s first-place piece highlighted the incredible work of North Crawford Food Service Director Jen Kapinus, while the third-place award recognized their coverage of Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Walz’s campaign stop in Eau Claire last August. Please review the details below regarding testing dates and expectations for students in grades 6-11. Middle School (Grades 6-8) Testing Schedule Testing for middle school students will begin on Tuesday, March 25th and will be spread out over a couple of weeks. We have structured the schedule to avoid testing on Mondays and Fridays and to limit sessions to under 1.5 hours whenever possible. High School (Grades 9-11) Testing Schedule For high school students, ALL testing will take place on Tuesday, March 25th: Juniors will take the official ACT, which has strict timing requirements. Freshmen and sophomores will take the PreACT on the same day. How You Can HelpWe ask for your support in reinforcing the importance of these assessments. The North Crawford School Board Meeting scheduled for this evening has been postponed until Wednesday, March 26th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Large Group Room.

Due to the threat of ice and snow this afternoon, the North Crawford School District will be releasing at 1:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 19th. After school activities are cancelled.
